The core of an outfit starts from the shoes going upwards so, shoes are pretty important in defining your style. Winter is coming, so we want to stay as warm as possible. The best way to do that for your feet is to transition from regular sneakers to a pair of boots. DDB is here to serve you with a set of fresh boot options to choose from so, when lockdown is over, you'll kick off your winter on the right foot.
Welcome to the Winter Breakdown : Boots Edition. A list from B-M of the best winter boots around.
BROGUES

These boots are essentially the high rise versions of the classic brogue dress shoes, which are a classy pairing for a suit and tie event.

The boot version however, is a way more relaxed version which can be worn with a pair of basic jeans and top. Brogue boots come in a variety of colourways and are made out of leather so, they can be kept in the best condition possible for a really long time if you invest in a reliable leather protector, and can suit whatever winter outfit you put together.

CHELSEAS

The autumn/winter reliable essential. These boots are a guaranteed fit to any person's style and are perfect to go for on a low budget. The are available in a wide range of materials, with the top 2 being sued and leather which make them easy to clean and maintain. Their slim toe design adds a sleekness to your look and makes you seem a bit more intentional with your outfit. They are versatile to any foot type in the sense of not having any laces and rather have elastic inserts on each side to allow ultimate comfort. When in doubt of which boot to choose, the Chelsea boot will always be there for you.

CHUKKAS & DESERTS

Yes, it is what it looks like. The classic farmer shoe that every Afrikaans gent in South Africa has stashed in their cupboards...

But, before you skip to the next boot type, give me a chance to explain. These boots can actually be styled pretty well as you'll see on the following outfits. It's a really popular boot among fashion/style influencers in the US because of its unique shape. The Chukkas are low-rise boots,

while the Desert boots are the high-rise relative.

These boots are generally available in a suede finish but, can also be found in a number of other alternatives relevant to your style. Give these boots a chance, you might end up really liking them.

CUBAN HEELS

My personal favourite from this list are the cuban heeled boots. They've always been around but, have had a exponential rise to fame in recent fashion seasons in the menswear space. If you're looking to push boundaries and bring out your inner trendy biker, then these boots are the ones for you my friend. They were hugely popular in the women's fashion scene

but, recent transitional redesigns have made the boot accessible to the men's fashion market. The element that was redesigned was the elevated heel, that has been reduced to almost match the vibe of a Chelsea boot.

HIKING

The hiking boot is traditionally bulky. It has a thick sole (base) to protect a typical hiker from damaging their feet when hiking through tough terrain. Essentially, the traditional version is not the most attractive boot in the world...

BUT, there has been progress throughout the years, and the stylish version of the hiking boot is now available.

It's still has the same characteristics as its older relative (tough material, thick sole) but, has been made slimmer to cater for the fashion world.

MILITARY
The military /combat boot was, as the name suggests, originally purposed for military forces worldwide. Its military purpose was to be able to handle any terrain without receiving any damage but, also flexible enough to move around.

They have since been developed, just like the hiking boot, to suit fashion trends and are now commercially acclaimed as a winter boot essential. The most popular pair of military inspired boots are the Doc Martens 1460s, which come a sleek black leather finish.

If you don't have Doc Martens money then, there are a large range of alternatives for you with different materials and shapes. The military/combat boot is typically higher above the ankle than hiking boots so, they elongate your legs and make you look taller.
